All-aboard the 2026 Peace Train!

Peace Train Canada 2026 will be departing the station this fall—and you are invited to be onboard.

Travelling on VIA Rail’s The Canadian once again, it will leave Vancouver for Ottawa on October 23.

It arrives in Toronto on Tuesday, October 27 and Peace Trainers will depart for Ottawa the next morning, on Wednesday, October 28.

A parliamentary reception with MPs is on October 28, from 5 to 7 PM.

“This will be a journey across our great land to support peace,” says organizer Keith Wyton.

“With wars wreaking havoc, now is the time to tell our government that we must strengthen our diplomatic efforts to prevent conflict . . . if we want peace, we must train for peace.”

Along the way, Peace Trainers will meet supporters at train stations before ending up in Ottawa for a week of meetings and events with government representatives and officials.

The goal of the meetings is to call for the establishment of a Canadian National Centre for Peace and Justice.

This is the third time the Peace Train has gone to Ottawa. This trip will build on relationships with MPs and organizations it collaborates with.

To be part of the 2026 Peace Train, go to VIA Rail online to get a ticket for a berth or cabin. People can also book by calling VIA Rail customer service at 1-888-842-7245.

Tickets are first-come-first-served basis, so it is important to buy now as the train fills up quickly.

CAA membership offers discounts on VIA; there may be other membership organizations that qualify for discounts with VIA.

It is recommended that people buy fully refundable tickets.

People are welcome to join the train from anywhere enroute.

Those who live on the east coast can take VIA Rail from Halifax to join up in Ottawa. And people can also drive or fly there; as with the train, arrival should be by mid-day Wednesday, in time for the MP reception.

More information will be shared as the itinerary evolves.

See you on the train!
